I have a Joshua Bowen listed in my family tree-collateral line.  He was the 
son of Nathaniel who died in 1815 so he may be the father of your Joshua-or no 
relation at all.  My Joshua's father died in Worcester County Maryland.  Many 
of the Bowens came from that area but they did migrate across country and some 
went to Oregon others to California
