[or-roots] Dr. Charles Drury to Oregon in 1852

I am researching a group of families from Iowa & Illinois that traveled to
Oregon in 1852.  One of the people with this group was Dr. Charles Drury.
The story is that he traveled with a large amount of medicines and treated
many people from many groups along the trip to Oregon.  He stayed in Oregon
for a short time, about two and a half years, and then returned to Iowa.  I
have found a bio for him on the Muscatine, Iowa GenWeb site, but it gives no
information about his trip or time in Oregon.

I am looking for any information on him, especially his trip or time in
Oregon.  Also any suggestions on places to research.
