Hi Joyce Lee & Fellow Oregonians:
I have been going back over my work on the Dye Family (my Mother was born Cora Belle Dye) and feel pretty confident that it is pretty good.(see attached)
In doing some reading on the Oregon Trail the name JOHN DAY came up. He was an Early Northwest Explorer (b. 1704 in Bedford Mass.) Well, I spent 4 months in the John Day area during my Jr. year at OSU. I was Majoring in Geology and we did real field work, living in tents and hiking about 15 miles a day.
I got interested in his line of the Days, Dyes, Dees, Diewks, and low and behold his line intersects with the line I've been working on and I believe that JOHN DAY is my ggFather X12. I've underlined the intersection on the attachment. Myline of the Dyes Settled in the area near Coos Bay/NorthBend at Riverton near Coquelle. (However my mother was born in Missouri, and I'm quite certain she came out west on the Oregon Trail.
