You are very fortunate that your grandfather was a historian and kept a good
deal of documentation. My grandfather Cooper also came to Oregon about 1874 at
two years of age. The family was in Jackson Co. in the 1880 census where
grandpa told tales of he and his father panning for gold. They moved on the Baker
Co. about 1883 where, as he grew into his teens he worked as a cowboy, sought
gold, farmed and deliver milk in Baker City. After my dad and a sister were
born in Baker City the family moved on to Portland. Many stories were told by
grandpa. And much research for documentation has been done - wish he had kept
more of such importnat documents.
You are very lucky to have those from your grandfather.
Carroll (Cooper) Summers
