I, too, am in my 70's and couldn't agree more.  It saddens me when I see
people these days who have no respect for others, nor other peoples
possession and are only interested in what they can get.  How sad that they
have forgotten the meaning of forgiveness, compassion, hard work and
honesty, etc.  Our young lives were so much simpler.

I remember the first movie I saw was at a CCC camp just out of Jewell, OR
and was held in their mess tent.  As I recall it could barely be called a
talkie.
Our community held dances at Grange Halls on Saturday nights or local
communities would have card parties.  Saturday was a big day and night as
you listened to Grand Ole Opry and Hit Parade (if you were lucky enough to
have a radio) before you headed out for the dance or card party.  I often
regretted that my children grew up in a more urban community where those
things just weren't available.

In looking back perhaps the 'good old days' weren't all that bad.  Aileen
