Hi:

Does any one know when the area of Bayview/Waldport first had Telepones
and Electrice lighting?

Also does any one from the Portland area recall hearing about an airplane that
crashed near Bybie (sp) Street in Porland, circa 197-22 or thereabouts? My
Grandmother who lived our on 68th Ave S.E. spoke of it and I beleive she had
a piece of the rubberized fabric from that aircraft.

This is what I've got about Delena:

"Delena was located about seven miles west of Rainier on the Columbia River
Highway, and near Beaver Creek. The post office was established April 22,
1892, with Lincoln J. Meserve first postmaster. It was discontinued October
  31, 1905, and re-established March 16, 1920. Delena post office closed to
Clatskanie March 15, 1922. Members of the Meserve family were reared at
Delena on Beaver Creek and their opinions about the history are doubtless
reliable. The son of the postmaster, W. N. Meserve, wrote in 1947, that the
community of Dent was named for Julia Dent (1826-1902) of Missouri, the
spouse of Ulysses S. Grant (1822-1885) of Ohio, US president from 1869 to
1877. The couple married in 1848 and were the parents of three sons and a
  daughter."
