Riki;

I guess the first suggestion I would make is to contact Clackamas county and
see if they have the marriage cert, but if you have that and it was no help
then next best guess might be hope for delayed birth certs, I have one of
those for the brother-in-law of one of my great Uncles that was an absolute
gold mine, it gave me details of his parents, and since the principal
witness was a married sister it also gave me her birth date and place and
her husbands name.

Now you seem to have the 1910-30 census, all I could find was 1910, however
if we trust her reporting for birthplace of her parents and work backwords
we find in the LDS online 1880 census one match, which considering there are
more than 200 matches for the name Nannie Brown, is pretty good;

       Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation
Father's Birthplace Mother's Birthplace
       James BROWN Self M Male W 30 IL Blacksmith IL IL
       Elizabeth BROWN Wife M Female W 30 MO Keeping House
IL   MO
       Nancy J. BROWN Dau S Female W 12 OR At Home IL MO
       William H. BROWN Son S Male W 9 OR IL MO
       Charles F. M. BROWN   Son   S   Male   W   5   OR      IL   MO

        Census Place Harding, Clackamas, Oregon
        Family History Library Film   1255080
        NA Film Number   T9-1080
        Page Number   232D

going forward from them is inconclusive;

In Harding again in 1900 is;

Brown, William June 1871 age 29 ma 5 yrs Oregon Illinois Missouri
        Ora(SP?)  ?    187?     25              Indiana Ohio Indiana?
        Silvia Jan 1896 4 Oregon Oregon Indiana
        Orannie F Jan  18??      6/12?       "          "       "

interestingly there is a William H, but he doesn't match. I had no luck
finding Charles or James.

I believe you will find Samuel and Nannie in Salem in 1900, if you go to
your FHC they probably have that census on film, I can't access it through
Heritage quest because when I click on the link;

MINTURN S W  42 M W OH OR MARION 3-WD SALEM 1900

I get an SW Minturn in Kentucky in 1820

Unfortunately LDS website shut down for maintenance before I got around to
finding Samuel in 1880 and I am too tired to chase either he or his wife in
1860 or 1870 tonight. If I get time I can do so later.

Trying to find anything online is a bit frustratint as there is a Samuel
Minturn Peck that is an author of some fame.

I don't recall the name Minturn from my growing up in Lane County, but my
memory isn't the greatest. I would think searching archives of the Eugene
Newspapers would be useful, also land records.

I'm looking for any information on the Minturn family living in the Eugene
area in the early 1900's (census 1910, 1920, 1930). Father Samuel Minturn
(b. 2/1858), mother Nannie Jane (Brown) (b. about 1868), children Charles (b
1890) and Elizabeth L. (my grandmother) (b 1893). Samuel and Nannie were
married in 1887 in Clackamas County.

I understand Nannie Jane's family was from the Quartzville area, but cannot
find anything to link her (or Sam) to parents or siblings in any location.

Help, in whatever form, would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
