[or-roots] lines of research

  I noticed the name Himes on the list of lines you are researching.  I have a good friend whose maiden name was Himes.  Her father was Alden Chester Himes but it is my understanding that he was originally from Canada.  I met the family around 1950 and they lived in Colton, Oregon at that time.  Chet, as he was known died about ten years ago.  It doesn't seem too likely that they are connected but thought I should mention it.
