We have one cat who chewed the family room
telephone cord, and the key board line to my
computer. She is a good rat catcher for the
few we find in our area.

I would certainly share that sentiment, IF!

    a) our cats did not like to actually chew on fine electrical cords

    b) they had not actually "killed" my favorite mouse (one of the early
    optical units - retail ~$70)

    c) also dead: the speaker system on one computer

    d) survived (so far), but scared: wife's cell phone charger cord, my
'old' laptop charger cord, the cam corder charger cord.

There seems to be something about these low voltage charger power cords
that attracts them - so far no evidence that they have gone after
regular 110 v cords, but it does cause us concern ...
