After reading the many Library problems, I guess that we are Blessed.  We live in Pierce Co., Washington.  There is a County wide library Syetem with a Main Library and 15 Branches.  The Main Library and 2 Branches are no more than 15 minute drive from our house and one of the Branches is less than a mile from our house. If you live in Pierce County, Library Use is free. The system is on line and I can go to it and check the Catalogue, order books by Title, Author , or Subject.  When the book is at the Branch nearest to us we receive an automated call telling us that our books are ready.  The library has a number of computers for use by citizens of Pierce County.  If I want a partiular book I go on line, enter my Library Card Number and request it be held for me.  The Library also has a large inventory of Video Tapes, and Music Tapes.  I'm not trying to cause you anguish, but thought you'd like to know that there are some Good systems.
Incidently, Tacoma is just north of us and If I want to check out a book from the Tacoma Library System it will cost Abt $60. It's interesting that Tacoma is in Pierce County!
