I was at the Oregon Historical Society library in Portland last week looking 
for the Fred Lockley interviews with Lucy Rose Mallory.  They have the columns 
in large, printed, bound "scrapbook" volumes that are searchable via their 
card catalog system.  The columns I wanted were easily found once the very 
helpful staff led me by hand through the tour of the library.  Since these were 
columns appearing regularly in the Oregon Journal, you might check to see if 
there are microfilms of the newspaper available in your area through inter-library 
loan, or if the scrapbook collection itself has been microfilmed.
