  I am just old enough to remember WW II.

  These uniforms were sent to us by my uncle, Ed Moe, at the end of WW II.  The photo was taken on the day that my mother finished altering them to fit us.  Little did I think I would ever wear a real sailor suit.


  Gaeta, Italy  1977

  I do not remember VE or VJ days, but I do remember the day we heard the sound of an A bomb blast that was broadcast on the radio a few days after VJ day .  I was playing in the front yard of the Shea house (near Foster).  My mother said, "Listen to this!"  There were many seconds of silence, and then KABOOM!

  I proudly served this country in the US Navy 1961-1981.

  I remember rationing and the day I spilled a 5 pound bag of sugar (yes, sugar used to be sold in cloth bags), in the wood shed/garage; it was quickley taken over by a bunch of wasps.  Why my father didn't  kill me I will never know,  But a new bag of sugar was purchased that day.  ???

  Let us hope that December 7, 1941, and September 11, 1991, are never repeated!
