Your Unk WAS quite a story teller, if he fought in the civil war as a
legitimately enlisted soldier he would have had to have been 17 by 1865,
which means he would have been a fairly old BOY when the James Gang got
wiped out in September of 1876 in Minnesota. Now for the next question, did
he claim to be a witness at the OK Corral, or one of the principles. Just
kidding.

Although documentation is a good thing if you are going to prove your
heritage for something like DAR or Royalty, it can be as full as errors as
that Great Uncle who claimed to have fought in the Civil War, in person at
the OK Corral shoot out, and a boy during the James and Dalton Gang raids,
yet couldn't claim Social Security because he didn't have a birth
document.....
