As long as we are on the subject of illegal activity, do any of you know 
about the murder of John Hawk at Lostine?  I think the date is November of 1891?  
I am not looking at my dates so that could be wrong for the year.  He was shot 
in a tent on the creek bank in Lostine while camping with a man named Adams.  
His wife was 8 months pregnant when he was killed.  He was my great 
grandfather.  He was the homesteader on the quarter that now belongs to the Walter 
Brennan estate in Joseph
