Thank you to both Leslie and Sue. The genepool had some really good info,
however the blm link said there is no ascession/serial number as shown. The
only land record for Sam Barlow that came up was in Umatilla. Timeline
doesn't fit.
Again, Thank you so much
Arlene

Back up; here is where you want to go;
http://www.rootsweb.com/~genepool/barlowrd.htm
Tidbits from Oregon Archives, that is if Samuel K is our guy;
Barlow, Samuel K. 12-31-1867 Estate Clackamas Genealogical 0029
possibly
means he died about then? apparently not
Barlow, Samuel K 12-29-1845 Land Claim Clackamas Genealogical Vol 1 pg 090
a vist to GLO site if it is available would add
to this item
http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/PatentSearch/Detail.asp?Accession=OROCAA+04051
9&Index=1&QryID=5924.328&DetailTab=1
click on this link and then you can navigate between pages
to glean
whatever seems appropriate
Hmmm. . . there is an S K Barlow, age 63 b. Kentucky; a Taylor in the 1860
Oregon City Census with wife Elzabeth age 57 b. New Jersey.
If this is our
guy though, his wife becomes Susan by the time he files his homestead claim
in 1867, there's also a J.L. barlow two pages away still in Oregon City with
wife and three kids.
http://www.onthisdayinoregon.com/05_23.html has a Cloutier
Cartoon
depicting Sam

This website has a little info on Sam but not much. I tried a Google search
but it didn't turn up much personal information.

I've enjoyed lurking for a couple of years and occasionally putting my two
cents worth in. Now I need some help for my 10
Year old great grandson. He has to do an essay on Sam Barlow for 4th grade.
He has been able to find quite a bit on the Barlow Road, but hardly anything
on old Sam himself. Anyone have any research on him? Wouldn't it be great
if one of his descendants is on our list?
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much
Arlene Robinson
