[or-roots] 1843 wagon train pioneers

Hi Margie,

This is what I found in the past few minutes--

1860 census
Oregon City Post Office, Oregon City Precinct, Clackamas County, Oregon, 
page 73A
William C. Dement, 37 years old, a farmer, value of real estate was $15,000, 
value of personal estate was $15,000, born in District of Columbia.
Enumerated with Olin (female, 28 years old, born in Ohio), Julia (12 years 
old), William E. (10 years old), Edum (7 years old), Frank (6 years old), 
Frederic (4 years old) and Kate (3 years old).  All the children were born 
in Oregon.

1870 census
Oregon City Post Office, Oregon City Precinct, Clackamas County, Oregon, 
pages 145A & B
Olive Dement, 38 years old, keeping house, value of real estate $4,000, 
value of personal estate $600, born in Ohio.
Enumerated with Eugene (20 years old, clerk on boat), Edward (17 years old, 
at home), Frank (16 years old, at home), Fredic (14 years old, at home),, 
Katie (12 years old, at home) and John (9 years old).  All children were 
born in Oregon.  Also living in the household was Eliza Johnson, 61 years 
old, born in New York.

1880 census
Oakland, Alameda County, California, page 210D
Mrs. W.C. Dement, 48 years old, widow, keeping house, born in Ohio, father 
born in Maryland, mother born in New Jersey.
Enumerated with Edward (27 years old, a journalist), John C. (19 years old, 
a student), and Kate M. (23 years old).  And a servant, Ah Kee.

Then I searched the Oregon State Archives website and found three pages of 
Dements.  I think William C. Dement passed away in 1865 - there is an estate 
record dated 12-31-1865, Clackamas County, #0014.  There are a couple of 
land claims and provisional and territorial census and tax rolls.  And what 
looks like assorted records for some of his children.

I hope this helps a little bit.  Remember to be flexible with names on the 
census records!  I could send pdf attachments of the above census records if 
you want them.
