Thanks Les,
For sort of understanding. I should have though ahead about this but didn't
realize, it would affect me so hard.
I didn't think she would just take it that way. Like Walt brought out this
am, It's my pride that got hurt. And another "or-roots" member said "Live &
Learn".. something like that, boy, he got that right! I have learned the
hard way.
From now on, I will be more careful. You know, I love sharing with all, but
this Carol Hansen just got to me..
Thanks for all the comments. I will get though this & go on with life.
Thank you Les, for sending: As to removing the info from Or-roots, that
would be up to list mom; layne.g.sawyer at state.or.us
(I only want to remove the one posting, only)
Nancy

I can sort of understand Nancy's point of view, if a person is going to post
somebody else's info on a Web site, common courtesy would dictate you ask
first and respect any qualifications or denials of permission, regardless of
whether the information is in the "public domain" by having been shared on a
list.
While posting your family information here would probably make it very hard
to go after someone for copyright infringement, it none the less doesn't
give someone blanket permission to do what they will with it.

I would think it wouldn't be TOO difficult, if you ask nicely ;-}
I have a number of kin who are very paranoid about having them or their
mother's stuff posted online for security reasons, this means I have to be
very strict about who I share what with and still I get burned, some folks
are as absent minded as I am and . . .uh what was I talking about? Oh yeah,
and they forget and post everything I send them. Worse luck one of my
cousins who has been at this about 25 or 30 years longer than me gave
somebody back east all her info before the internet was big and now it is
online, even though she didn't want it there. Of course with the generations
in my family the way they are that means I can't share much of anything from
the twentieth century and quite a bit of late 19th century stuff.
I have a folder of stuff I got from a guy on the Wheeler list that I stuck
in an out of the way place in a folder called "Not for distribution" because
I figure that way I will remember I have absolutely no authority to share it
with anyone under any circumstances. Kind of the same thing that happened to
Nancy happend to this guy and so he is very picky about sharing things. I
felt kinda privelidged he was willing to share it with me.
Happy turkey day folks.
