Vicki:  Thanks a Bunch!  The package just arrived (3:30pm  Oct 3,04)  Looks very interesting!  I really apreciate your help.  My son and I just got back (today ) from a short tour of Wester Oregon.  We found my Grandfathers's house in Riverton! Wow!  that was neet!.  Also did a tour of OSU last Sunday just to show my son ( U Dub-Husky!)  What a REAL University Looked Like! Also toured Coos Bay, Coquile, Courvallis, etc.  Found my old Dorm.  I picked up three books in Portland at Powel's:  The Virtual Geographic Society 1895 to 1945 ( I think this was a real Put On!);  Short History of Oregon by John B. Horner Copyright 1924-They Folowed the Rivers by Floyd and Sadie Conn Copyright 1981. Haven't had time to look throught them yet but I'll let ya'll know if they look interesting
