they had a wonderful program on the travel channel or one of those. they also had a list of the folk that were killed. i believe there was a scapegoat named to accept the responsibilityof the massacre but of course he was no more responsible for much of anything.its been some time since i have seen the program but it appeared they had the facts pretty straight. the fault seemed to lay with someone who couldn't or wouldn't accept them. this massacre was also something the church would not discuss. the people that did talk seemed to think that after being pushed around and forced to abandon their homes several times it was more than a fear of the past that caused this.
the movie was well worth watching.

Gary, you are quite right. Mountain Meadows was the site of a Mormon massacre of non-Mormon immigrants to California.
There are a lot of books published about the attack and its aftermath...several by Mormons. There was a ceremony at the site some years ago, and Mo Udall's family (the congressman from Arizona) was involved in raising the commemorative stone at the site. Google up Mountain Meadows and read a lot. Bob Casebeer

ISN'T THE MOUTAIN MEADOWS MASSACRE THE ONE THAT THE MORMONS WERE INVOLVED IN AND THEY COVERED IT UP?

I don't have a personal interest in this, but some of you historians that have an interest in some portion of this. If someone wants the attachment, I can send it to you personally.

Hello! My name is Brian Patrick. I wanted to let you know about a special event that is coming up. I am bringing my film, "Burying The Past -- Legacy of The Mountain Meadows Massacre" up to Oregon for a special showing in the Bend Film Festival. I have attached a flyer with all of the information. I am trying to get the word out there. This is a very unique film about an event that most people have never even learned of -- even though it is one of the biggest massacres in the history of the West. I think many people would be very grateful to learn of the showing, as this is the only chance for them to see the film and ask questions to the director, along with some of the massacre descendants. Burr Fancher who lives in Oregon is one of the massacre descendants featured in the film who is planning to be there. Please let anyone know who you think might be interested in attending (it would really help me get the word out there if you would be kind enough to print the flyer and post it). You can also visit my website at www.buryingthepast.com where DVD and VHS copies of the film are available.
Thank you very much for your time.

      Best Wishes,

      Brian Patrick
