Carisa,

Check out the link below for the Oregon Historical County Records
guide. Choose the county that the marriage occurred in and then scroll
down the list to marriage records. It will tell you exactly what the
County has and where the records are located.

http://arcweb.sos.state.or.us/county/cpquick.html

The State Archives has a comprehensive listing of the marriage records
we hold as part of the vital records help aid at the following link

http://arcweb.sos.state.or.us/vital.html

this will provide links to our searchable index as well.

Good luck in your research

I went to the vital records department in Portland and was able to find
the
Return of Marriage of a ancestor. Now since I'm new at researching,
what is
the difference between the return of marriage form and the marriage
certificate? If they are different would the state archives in salem
possibly have the actual marriage certificate on file?

Please help if anyone knows.. Thanks!

Carisa
