Hi;
I am going to quit here and send you this, if the Rvd Clinton Kelly is not
the focus of your search, I can finish the search to see if I can find
anyone else, other wise I am 51 to 60 links into a 295 hit google search on
the name Clinton Kelly and state of Oregon. If the Rev is not your guy, get
back to me with any other info you have and I can try again.
Les Chapman
Do you have any more information than a name?
The Clinton Kelly's that shows up in the Census I have access to are
Clinton (indexed as Middle initial K but it looks like a D to me) Kelly age
38 b. Aug ?? in Oregon who is partner in a Quartz mining operation with
Martin Charles (or something like that, last name not clear) in Sumpter
Pct., Baker Co., Oregon in 1900. he lists his parentage as Fa b. North
Carolina and Motehr born in Missouri.
In 1910 I find a fifteen year old Clinton Kelly in 76th ward Salem, Marion
Co., Oregon living with George A., wife Arba D. and Son Floyd A. Day.
Clinton is listed as Nephew which would make me suspect that Arba's maiden
name was Kelly. His age is indexed as 15 but looks to me like should be 16,
his and his parents places of birth are all listed as Oregon, so it is
possible he is a son of Clinton K/D above.
Now to Google;
Obviously your search isn't going to be easy as there are a lot of Clinton
Kelly's out there;
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ormultno/People/PNW/kellyp.htm
will take you to the story of one of the fifteeen children of one of them;
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ormultno/People/PNW/kellyc.htm
is the link to that Clinton's story.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~orgenweb/bios/moriahcrain.html
will take you to the story of one of his wives.
http://www.vonsalza.com/bridlemile/historyAKtxt.html
talks about one of his brothers and mentions him.
http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/or/history/wpa54.txt
is a WPA project transcription of recollections of one of his
granddaughters.
http://members.fortunecity.com/cgbourdon/pafg26.htm
lists someones genealogical work on that family line, I didn't follow the
descendants, but suspect somewhere there (following all of it will take a
while) you will find it leading to living relatives, if they aren't paranoid
( or cautios depending on your point of view) it may even give you names and
locations.
here is a currently living one;
Clinton Kelly - (541) 938-6207 - 1603 S Main St, Milton Freewater, OR 97862
I suspect the following was in Honor of the Rvd above, but have no idea how
you could find out. I have an Aunt who worked in the wartime shipping
construction trade so she may have worked on this ship.
Oregon Shipbuilding Corporation EC2-S-C1 Type
Hull # Name
2056 Clinton Kelly
U of O library has the following;
DeLashmutt, Maria Kelly.
In Clinton Kelly Papers. 1857-1881. 1 folder.
The Clinton Kelly Papers contain the reminiscences of Maria Kelly
DeLashmutt, the daughter of Albert Kelly.
(A 66)
http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/ACTC/actc-1.html
is a very important site for you to visit I believe, there is a Kelly Turner
who was an important name in Naval history and he is somehow related to the
Rvd; there is a lot of Kelly history on this page, including ancestry, of
course if that isn't the Clinton you are looking for I guess it doesn't
matter.
* * * *
Okay I suspect I am on the right track, undoubtedly what led you to us were
the following;
http://sosinet.sos.state.or.us/pipermail/or-roots/2004-January/003389.html
http://sosinet.sos.state.or.us/pipermail/or-roots/2004-February/003612.html
What you probably did to get this deluge of information was go to;
http://sosinet.sos.state.or.us/mailman/listinfo/or-roots
and enter your email address, if this doesn't ring a bell, I am not sure how
but every so often we get folks in here who swear they did NOT do so but as
far as anybody knows that is the only way to get on the list unless someone
else goes there and enters your email address, anyway if you want the deluge
to stop that is where you need to go to get off the list, if you don't have
an emial saved somewhere about list protocol and so forth with your pass
word you will need to go there and enter your email address in the box next
to "edit options" it will ask you for your password iand give you
instructions for getting your password if you don't have it, then you can
come back and unsubscribe.

Hello. Somehow I've been getting all sort of e-mails about roots. I had
been doing a bit of research for my students. Now, I'm being deluged. What
is this about?
If this is a network of people who are helping one another find genealogical
clues, I am trying to find someone for a project I'm doing with my students.
I'm looking for a living relative of Clinton Kelly whose land claim was
located on the property of Cleveland High School. Any ideas?
Thanks!
