[or-roots] Milton-freewater, Athena and Weston cemeteries

I thought it would be good to post this to the list rather than answer Nancy
and Gary individually in case others are interested.

The Ford Cemetery is not the Milton-Freewater Pioneer Cemetery. The Ford
Cemetery is located east of Umapine, just outside of Milton-Freewater to the
North. I was surprised that it is almost this one piece of land surrounded
by homes and pasture.

The Pioneer Cemetery is located up on a hill overlooking Milton-Freewater
and is a dirt road, for the most part. But an interesting look at the
pioneers who are buried there.

I have cemeteries in Umatilla online at:
<http://gesswhoto.com/um-cemeteries.html>
http://gesswhoto.com/um-cemeteries.html

I transferred all that I did on Umatilla County to Roxie because I wanted it
somewhere safe. I may try to update the pages in the near future. I never
managed to get all of the cemeteries photographed before I left. The
smaller ones were easy to photograph all of the headstones so that they are
"indexed."

The Athena and Weston cemeteries are indexed and online. They have not been
updated. Garland Wilson did the indexing and allowed me to post them online.

Those interested in Weston burials that are not online could contact the
Weston Public Library. Index cards for the burials are maintained at the
library. One of those neat things about living in a small town (about 700
population) like Weston. You can access the library from:
<http://www.westonchamberofcommerce.com>
http://www.westonchamberofcommerce.com

Please keep in mind that the library is staffed by one person with limited
hours. The library is supported by the City of Weston--a tribute to the
community's desire to maintain their own library even tho Milton-Freewater
and Pendleton are about 20 minutes away. Donations and annual book sales
also helps support the library.
