As one of the younger ones of this group, I grew up driving a 72 Le Sabre. However I had a conversation last night with my 90 year old uncle who told me of leaving his 30 cent an hour welding job in Wyoming in 1941, and loading up his 33 Plymouth and driving across the country heading for Bremerton. A cousin told him there was no housing, so he stopped in Longview and worked in the mill for awhile. He rented a little house for $15 a month, bought a 103 x 200 lot for $338, and by the next spring had built a two room house that he and his wife moved into (with an outhouse out back). They lived in that house (with a few additions) for 55 years.

One other story he told me was: when he was an 18 year old kid he worked in the CCC in New Mexico. He made $25 a month. He sent $20 home to feed his brothers and sisters. I want to find a guy like that for my daughter!

Any one remember the first car you owned? Or First car you Drove?
Just looking back at my records I came up with 15 cars I've owned. The first one I drove and owned was a 1929 Plymouth Sedan. (updraft Carb. Vacuum Tank fuel pump) I painted it my school colors (Stadium Hi in Tacoma, Blue and Gold)
