There are many systems on the market to sort and store your photos in. The
most important issue is to make sure they are archival safe.
Older photo albums with magnetic paper will trap vapors that will destroy
the pictures over time. Most of the albums, scrapbooking papers, and adhesives
manufactured today are acid free, look for this on the labels.
As to putting them in an album that is the best way to protect them.
I usually first decide the theme of the album.
Book of Me
Faithbooking
Time line
Heritage
Then I place the pictures that I want on the same page together, place a
piece of colored paper / stickers that I want with them, cover them with a white
piece of paper, then place the next group of pictures on top with papers and
stickers and cover with white paper. Doing as many pages as I have time
for. This is power sorting. I then place this in a box. Next time I have time
to work I can take this box out turn it over and am ready to place the
pictures in the album with suggested colored papers and stickers. It makes album
making go a little quicker
I believe that it is very important to label each pictures with date, place,
event, people. We are making albums so that those in the future know who we
are. It is a shame to say, Yes this is someone in the family but no one
knows her name.

OK, so I am trying really hard to get organized. I just went through a
dozen on photo albums and took out the ones I wanted to keep. My question
is the best way to keep them.
So far I have seperated them by each person. Fortunately the ones with two
ancestors seem to also have at least 2 copies. So now i have a bunch of
pictures in big 9 X 12 envelopes.
What is the best way to file these? I figure I will be putting them into
protective sheeting of some kind. Do I paste the smaller ones onto a 8 1/2
X 11 piece of paper with annotations?
help !!!!
