I am not sure if any of my Cross family was in the Dayton Area or Eugene area or not, My Grandmother Barber, Maiden name Cross was, my Grandfather Barber was a logger and miner accually, a jack of all trades, was a logger at Disston Oregon, and a Miner in the Bohemia mines out of Eugene/Cottage Grove area and I still have cousins down in that area.
As for the Dayton area we are still researching we may have had relatives in that area.

Les,
I don't recall an Ansil Melvin Cross in my Cross family, but that doesn't mean he may not be there..
I read where you mention you don't have your family file up and running at the moment, when it's up & running maybe when you have time you could check & see if any part of your Cross family are from Dayton, Columbia Co., WA & Eugene/McKenzie Bridge/Blue River,Vida, Oregon area?
Thanks Nancy

Glen;
I went looking for the logging photos and got side tracked by this guy;
Ansil Melvin Cross.
In my mother's Line we have a couple of Ancel/Ansel/whatever Melvins and we
also have some Cross ancestors, but I don't have my family file up and
running at the moment so am unsure if we have a connection in those
surnames.
I do know that we have some "unknown" Melvin family that came to Oregon and
after my great grandparents generation there was virtually no contact
between their and our branchs and this fellow really has me curious, do you
have any "Melvins" in his family tree?

Gene if you want to see some old logging photos, and I do not have a lot of
them on the site yet, but here is my genealogy site.

It is case sensitive so be sure to cap my name, the photo of the four ladies
on horseback in the tree notch is there list as unknown.
