I may have caused some confusion there, BTW Nancy thanks for reminding the
"REST OF US" to keep on top of our subject lines, some of the posts today
were in no way related to their subject lines.
Anyway what I wanted to clarify is I no longer live in Cottage Grove, though
maintain a residence of sorts there, I haven't seen it since Memorial
weekend. Also ironically have spent less time researching my Cottage Grove
connections than my Douglas County ones, partly because the latter are older
and not so well documented, I have obits and birth announcements and such
for the lions share of my father's side, though recently discovered a whole
passel of buttonhole relatives that were in Veneta and Eugene area early in
20th century that I never heard of.
That I know of anyway, I am, after all the guy that greeted an Aunt with "I
thought you were dead" beacause I had never heard anything about them in the
present tense in all my twenty plus years when Aunt Tess showed up.
But my point is because my dad's side are newcomers and he being Mormon did
a lot of documentation on them I have devoted more time to Mom's kin an so
haven't researched them so heavily. I can pass specific queries on to my
Sister-in-law who is in the Cottage Grove Gen Society, and I really do plan
to start some research out there someday when I have time, with so much
family to visit and old family friends that are dropping like flies on me, I
don't have time for genealogy when I do get to Lane county. You would think
with it being only 90 minutes away or 75 if my wife isn't along I would get
out ther more often, but we just never seem to go anywhere but work.
