Hi Walt.....in late 1962 traveled with a Navy task group to Australia from San Diego and went through a typhoon.  Was aboard a fleet oiler and sailing with a carrier and a sub and a tin can.  Remember green water over the flying bridge and the destroyer going completely out of sight while in the bottom of the swells.  It was quite a blow.    Regards    Jim Minneapolis
