HI: HOPE YOU don't mind me sticking my nose in here. what county are you talking about. i went to the courthouse in st. helens about 3 years ago and they have hundreds of binders in one room. i went thru a lot of them and got so much info. you wouldn't believe it. you can mark each binder and photocopy whatever you want. hard to believe all that info was there. i was interested only in land records and what a bonanza. i also went to the library in hillsboro and found, in the little gossip column when and where my mom was born. along with her brother and four sisters. she had told me how much she weighed when she was born but i guess i really didn't believe her. there it was in print: 16 1/2 lbs. she really was a big'n. some of the newspapers they had on film but the ones i wanted back to 1916, when she was born were all original newspapers. interesting day and i have my cousin to thank for all of it. i just noticed you are interested in a washington county. sorry, all of this came from oregon. there is a dayton down near mc minville and thought that was where you were interested in. although dayton, oregon, i believe, is in yamhill co. well, maybe this will help someone. there is also a logging museum in vernonia, ore. that is loaded with memorabilia and lots of pics. i'm not quite that old but i do remember when the trees were huge. i used to ride with a log trucker. one tree would fill the back of the truck. all that they are logging no a days look like telephone trees with bark. sorry again, i should have read all that you wrote.

Suzanne,
My grandfather (Flanagan) (his mother a McCubbins) & my mother both born in Dayton, WA. Since you have mentioned searching back to Dayton, WA., please let me know other surnames in your family, If I can help, I will : ) Lots of Clarks in Dayton. Even the Henry's I'm related to through marriage of my mother's cousin, Archie Bee Cross. I don't know much about the Henry's though..they are related to the Cross & Patrick Families of Eckler MT, Dayton, Columbia Co., WA.
I got lost in the e-mails..sorry! What was Richard Frank Clark wife's full name (maiden name) who has been traced back to Dayton where Richard was born?
Thanks! Nancy St. Helens, OR.

Sue, I believe most libraries have a reference book called a "reverse
directory" which lists occupants by address. Used to use it all the time
when working in residential real estate. Some times they are a year or so
out of date however. Regards Jim Minneapolis
