Okay;
You folks did so good on the missing needle of Pass Creek story, maybe
somebody out there can answer a question for me; I have been trying to
determine where the "Pass Creek Inn" from the 1880 Census is. As near as I
have been able to determine it was probably in Shadybrook, which may or may
not appear in place names of Oregon references.
I have two reasons to be interested in this, first of all I grew up just
over the ridge from Shadybrook, but have never been there, and in the 1880
Census some cousins of my Mother were managing the Inn, so I am really
curious where it was.

>The year was 1853 and Grandmother Drain owned the only darning needle in
Pass Creek Canyon, Oregon. It was the most cared-for-possession in the small
community of fifteen families! When clothing needed to be patched and
mended, everyone knew Grandmother Drain would lend it out.>
