I have a copy of the book being discussed, An Illustrated History of
Umatilla and Morrow County.  It is available in digital form from the
Godfrey Memorial Library which was mentioned several weeks ago on this list.
Membership to the library is $35 a year.  You can check it out at
www.godfrey.org.  You will be restricted from the commercial databases until
you become a member but you can get a good look at the site.

I have several family members listed in the book.  When I did a search on
one character, the search engine took me to the bio for his son-in-law
because he was mentioned there.  It did not direct me to his own bio.  But
the book index gave me the page number of his bio and I went directly to it
from there.

If there is a photo with the article and the quality is poor, let me know
off list and I can send you a digital photo taken from the original.  By the
way, a "copy" of the book is available for only $215, but the photos are not
very good there either.

One thing to always remember about these "vanity books".  The individual
only includes in his bio what he wanted people to know.  The character above
was tried in Denver in 1874-75 for murder and was acquitted.  According to
his bio he was never close to Denver, or even Colorado.
