Wrong.    Your ancestor must have been living in  Oregon prior to 1859 -
date 
of statehood, last I heard.   Mine were  there in 1844 and I got proof
from 
Gen. Forum in Portland, OR thru the Donation  Land Claim records. 


Excuse me for being dumb but what is the Gen. Forum?  I got a copy of
our family's DLC from the Archives in Salem.  They came in 1846 on the
Simpson Wagon Train, I believe it was -- haven't done anything with that
side in so long, I think I'm a little rusty in the memory department!
I'm the 4th generation to be born in Lane County Oregon and there are 2
more generations after me to be born in Lane County.
