[or-roots] New Zeeland Geneaology

I have a friend who was born in New Zeeland and now lives in Washington (State).  She is trying to find her family lines.  The following is what we know.
*Her Father was was Alfred Eli Hewitt (Adopted from Hawtin) he was born  5/17/19 and d. 6/24/1966. All in New Zeeland. Her mother was Emily Helen Brittian Hewitt d. 1/14/1920 (apparent Suicide) in Riccarton, New Zeeland.
* Her Grand Father was William Alfred Hewitt b. 8/6/1857, Middlesex, Eng.
   (Paddington) and d. 10/08/1931.
*Her grand mother was Allice Berry b. Yorkshire, Eng and maried to William 4/24/1866 Kaiapoi, New Zeeland, Her Grandfather's Father was Eli Berry..
I have done quick searches on Rootsweb and the Morman data  bases and can find nothing of these families.   Do any of you know of a New Zeeland Data Base that might help,  or give us some guidance to find one.??
