After I came home to the Denver area, the field behind my house looked extremely dry!  I will always remember the lush green evergreen trees. I even took pictures along the road to show my husband how thick the forest are.  My grandparents came from Nova Scotia to Oregon and the winters in Oregon are a breeze compared to Nova Scotia so they probably thought they had found God's Country.  In fact, I heard Oregonee folks referring to their country as God's Country!

I am still trying to find John Nelson Wood's  (b.1839 d. 1908) death cert.  Also, Jane Hunter Campbell Wood (b. 1840) died in Gig Harbor, Wash. don't know when and I can't find where she is buried, she is his wife and she lived after 1925 because my grandmother mentions her in a 1925 letter.  Jane is surposed to be buried in the Will Chilvers graveyard.  Well, that was a family plot in Gig Harbor and I can't find anything on that.

Sorry the weather interfered with your genealogy, if it's any consolation
here in the Central coast region we are having summer like weather today, I
was tempted to strip to the waist at work in Coos Bay this afternoon, it was
actually hot!

I'm so glad the kids are taking care of the graves, a little bit of hands on
history and there is little likelihood those kids will ever vandalize a
cemetery. Refresh our memory of what it is you needed to look up, maybe
someone can jump in and take up the slack our weather caused in your effort.
Do remember though when you are admiring those "beautiful pictures" that
they wouldn't be near as green without all that rain.  I always like to
recall the story of our Thanksgiving dinner guest who had recently moved her
from Utah and wanted to know if the rain ever stopped. Since it had only
been raining a couple of weeks at that particular time I had to explain to
him that we were in fact in the middle of a drought. He was a bit shocked.

Hello Everyone,

I made it to Oregon and back, two weeks ago, and it has taken me awhile to
get back into the swing of things.
My sister and I first drove to RiverView Abbey Mausoleum to visit our
Father, our Grandmother and our Uncle - Riverview Abbey Mausoleum is a sight
to see, and its absolutely beautiful. Then we drove on out to Rockaway Beach
and stayed at SeaView Condos. When we were children, our grandparents had a
small cabin by the beach in Rockaway, it was torn down about 30 yrs. ago.
We then spent the next day and drove up the coast to the Lewis and Clark
Museum and Ft. Clatsop (the Fort burned down 1 month ago) so all we got to
see was the museum.  We also got to see Cape Meier's along the way - WOW
that is really nice.  It rained 5 days out of the 7 we were there.  Coming
from a dry climate, it was a bit too much!
