For Vets and Spouses:
I Volunteer at McChord AFB near Tacoma WA. We have a number of Info packets available to Vets (Any Service) and their spouces. In particular we have Casuality Assistance lists with whom to call, what to do, and phone numbers.
I am Sure all Air Force Bases have such a list. I can Scan one and send it to the OrRoots gang if you'd like.
If you are near an Air force installation they will have one.
Portland Air Natiional Guard and Kingsley AFB at Klamath Falls are sure to have them.
I am not sure if Army or Marine Bases do this kind of thing. I do Believe the Coast Guard at Astoria has such info.

I was fortunate to attend an Irish wake in San Antonio, Texas about a year and half ago.
The individual was a retired Lt. Col. From the USAF and was in hospice care for almost two years before he died. He scripted his funeral service down to and including a farewell poem he wrote to his ten children from two marriages and many grandchildren etc.
The only glitch was the pastor or his local Catholic church would not allow singing by one of his sons and that son’s daughter. The funeral came through and everything work out for the best.
My wife is not quite familiar with a military funeral service and we live in a town without any active duty military. Therefore I have started a “What to do when I die and go to Heaven” Book.
It is a work in progress and has 12 chapters.
1 Action List
2 Key Contacts
3 Medical
4 Financial
5 Asset Inventory
6 Insurance Policies
7 Business and Legal Documents
8 Funeral Instructions
9 Estate Planning Documents
10 Charitable Commitments
11 Personal
12 Miscellaneous

I am starting a book of me
The thought is at my funeral there will be a book about me, made by me, to show what I thought was important in my lfe.
It is so hard to do one of these rememberance books at the time of grief, so am doing it now. No I do not think that I will die anytime soon but no since in waiting and have one of my kids do one. May not like it
