This is not just "a book" but a five volume set with index, published by  the 
Genealogical Forum of Portland (now the Oregon Genealogical Forum) It  is a 
treasure and very, very helpful to anyone doing early Oregon research. Once  
you have the claim number listed for your ancestor, you may order copies of the  
complete file from the Oregon State Archives or go there yourself and make  
copies. 
 
Births dates and places, marriage dates and spouses are often listed, as  
well as the arrival date in Oregon and the date the claim was  settled.
