[or-roots] Need ideas on where to locate death certificate

I have had great success with other deaths that I have researched. It is
true that many mortuaries have been bought out or merged with other
facilities. I have been able to obtain information from the new facility.
However, the indication that I got from the mortuary I spoke with in
Crescent City was that the records from the mortuary that closed were not
accessible.
In the meantime I have made a trip to Salem and found the DC for the
son-in-law of the woman I have been looking for. The mortuary was in
Crescent City but the DC states that he was buried at Smith River. I could
not find the DC for the woman I am actually searching for but now we're
wondering if perhaps that is where she is buried.
The Del Norte Historical Society has no information in their records for
either burial. So....guess it's time to go walk a couple of cemeteries. :-)

HI ALL:
My unit down with bad motherboard. But the last writer was correct. Many
of the old
mortuaries records may still be found in the successor. In Grants Pass and
several other
cities in Minn. we have found them very cooperative and sometimes allowing
one to browse
thier books, at other times to volunteer when given a list of names, We got
lot of information
from one where the family member had skipped and not paid the bill. Knowing
where they
could find him, helped.

Sad that the

Trish,
Have you checked with the mortuaries that are now in existence. Many times
the
old records go with the sale of the business. And, sometimes you just have
to
ask the right questions.
