Thanks for all the welcomes and notes about receiving messages -- after 
I found my password, since the first post didn't bounce, I checked my 
status on the webpage and found I was set to 'mail disabled'

So I got that fixed and signed up for digest, and Bingo! an or-roots 
digest appeared --

Amazing what happens when the server and I are on the same page ...
