VaLene believes that he was born in Ray Co. MO because Land rec. of Ray Co. indicate that Lieghton, his father, was there from 1834 thru 1836.

1904, a letter by R.L.Ewell states: "My grand-father married a second time, left some children by that marriage one of them Pleasant H. lives in California, but I don't know where."

I believe that this Pleasant H Ewell to be the same child found as the minor child of Lieghton Ewell in the probate records of Lieghton's death. However, if this is true, the birth year of 1831 in the 1900 census is incorrect. Pleasant wouldn't have been a minor at the age of 20 or 22 years old. In the 1880 census, it lists P. H. Ewell birth year as 1836. Being born in 1836 would mean that by 1851 or 1853 he would be a minor and matches the birth year given by GW Ewell.

  Hello,

  Searching for information on Pleasant H. Ewell and Sarah Taylor Walter and their descendants.  He was an early settler in the Marion County area, but also received a land patent in the Edmonds, WA area.  They had 9 children, 8 still living in 1900.  I believe he died on October 8, 1901.  Sarah married Francis M Cook in 1906 and later died February 6th 1916 in Turner, Marion County.
