I think I might be able to help you here. What I know about the
Llewellen's (spelled correctly I might add) is that it is a Welsh name
very common in Wales and that a lot of them that came here early and
went to Pennsylvania were Quakers. There is a woman in Iowa who has
done a ton of research on this family as there is a famous Llewellen
house that is now a museum because it was a safe house on the
underground railroad. I will send you her email address and I'll bet
she will be able to help you.

Dale;

Oonce again you "have my attention" but I think it is for naught. In
1870 I
find'

1870 > OREGON > CLACKAMAS > SPRINGWATER PCT
Series: M593 Roll: 1285 Page: 164
Surname GivenName Age Sex Race Birthplace State County Location
Year
LUELLING JOHN 23 M W MO OR CLACKAMAS SPRINGWATER PCT 1870

line 38 is Luelling John 23 M W Farmer	___ $400 Missouri and a check
in
column 19,
right above them are

Luelling Elison (sp?) 49 M W Farmer	2000 800 Kentucky	col 19
check
	   Salie 52 F W Keeping House Indiana
         William 16 M W At home Oregon
	   Alfred E. 13 M W " "
	   Clementine 11 F W " "

I would bet fair that this is his parents and siblings. The reason it
has my
attention is my maternal grandmother's cousin Eva Lockwood, married a
William Llewellyn and I haven't found that to be a "real" common
surname.
But all I have on him is born in Pennsylvania (based on Census info, Jan
1842. Have never been sure of, or actually had suspicions of his
parents,
but they too are listed as born in Penns. I believe William died in
Washington. I have found him in 1900 their and have information that
his
wife is dead in California by 1923, but have never found where he died.
These folks have fascinated me in many ways, in 1880 William and Eva are
just over the hill from where I grew up in the Pass Creek area he as
Hotel
Keeper and she as ? teacher. Part of my interest in them is also Eva's
parents, but it looks like from birthplaces Sarah's husband and his
family
probably aren't connected.

In case anyone is interested I found the marriage of one of Stanford
Howell'
s sisters Sarah E. Howell to a John H. Leuellen/Lewellon in Clackamus
County
1872. They are in the 1880 census with children Ida C. age 6, Eugene E
age
5 and Nelly M. age 2 residing in Springwater.
