Bob;
Have you seen this tree;
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=REG&db=killian&id=I52099
The birth date matches your Solomon. Unfortunately this person doesn't
appear to know who his father is either.
There is a fellow name of Ron Head who has his Solomon DYSON posted all over
the place, he is the right age to be father of your guy, but
Ron lists only one son;
FROM; http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/DYSON/2001-01/0979501638
DYSON is one of my wife's ancestral lines, the earliest known member
of which was this individual:
Solomon DYSON
born between 1770-1775
died before 09 May 1842 Columbus Co., NC
wife: [Jane BOSWELL]?
born between 1780-1790
died ?
their children:
Martha "Patsey" Dyson b. ca 1806 NC
m. ca 1826: Harbird? Bright
Eliza Dyson b. ca 1808 NC d. 1874 Bullock Co., AL
m. ca 1830: James Hamilton Watts
Rebecca Dyson
m. Luke Green
Frances "Fanny" Dyson b. ca 1815 NC
m. ca 1838: Harrison Hinson
James H(amilton?) Dyson (b. ca 1817 NC)?
(m. ca 1840: Eleanor ______ )?
Polly N. Dyson b. ca 1820 NC
m. ca 1839: David Ward
Female Dyson descendants all seem to have husbands interested in genealogy,
not your opening remark and Ron's bear a lot of resemblance and somewhere in
a referance to the guy I noted before I started on Ron's stuff he also opens
with almost the identical remark Ron did.
Now here is a conjecture;

20 COLUMBUS COUNTY CENSUS
Submitted by Diane Smith
page 48;
James Dyson 1,0,0,1,0,0,0,1,0,1,0,0
page 55;
Solomon Dyson 1,0,0,0,0,1,3,3,0,1,0
I thought the first time I found these guys they were closer together as in
on the same page, but still in grasping at straws I come up with the notion
that since Solomon listed in this Census is likely the father of James as
listed above, isn't it possible they were brothers, and while not enamored
of the idea of having a child in their own house with their name, each named
a son for the sibling?
It's a thought.

PS for allyou listers in the Bend area; have you got your evacuation packs
ready? My partner and I were working the last two days above Sunriver and on
the way home the fires on the old Santiam highway looked dangerwurst!!

My wife asked me to see if I could get a line on her family.
Her ggf (I think) was Solomon DYSON, b. abt 1821 in NC. Can any of you help
me find Solomon's Father?
