Greetings:

I am an old timer, so I remember my grandfather doing this very job for our
local road between neighbors in those days (192,'s.

A Fresno is a horse drawn piece of equipment that is best described as bucket
about 6 feet wide with two handles similar to a wheel barrow, is pulled into
ground at just enough angle to scoop up dirt, and when full you pushed down on
the handles till you had the dirt where you wanted it, you lift up and would
roll up and dump, some were fancy, and would roll over and lock to go around
to the next load.

Hope this helps.
