Hello Leslie, I too found several ways to get 'free' information and use it regularly. My only brick wall is South Africa, as my paternal grandfather was the child of English immagrants of 1860's and came to the Pacific NW in 1906. It took me a while but I found two wonderful folks to help me out, as you see the alternative ...ONLY..is to hire a professional there at $30.00 per hr to do your research. The government there is admant about no one outside of the country getting into their files. As time goes on here each state is opening up slowly but surely. Till then it's Tribal Pages, and the USGEN website, and Roots message boards are the 'freebees' that have been an emincely helpful and have made some great friends in my research. I also do some volunteer research also. So now that is said here is my new query:
Where is Pine Valley Oregon? I have two books on 'Ghost Towns of the Pacific NW' and have not seen this place listed. Thanks to all Mary in The Dalles
