Thanks Carol, it was nice talking to you last night. I think I remember
you saying that you live in Ridgecrest. That is just so amazing what a
small world this is.

Dale........
I think you are correct about Standford Howell not being married to
Margaret
Olmstead......
Look again at the Douglas County marriages. Starting with Adeline
Northrup
down to Margaret Olmstead they are wrong. I crosses referenced this at
family search. Adeline Northrup married Stanford Howell and the other
names
are off one. They should read:
Adeline Northrup..................Stanford Howell
Virginia O'Barber.................Benjamin F. Wells
Deliah Oden..........................John Price
Lucretia Oden........................Edwin Morgan
Lucy Ogle...............................Thomas Stevens
Margaret Olmstead...............Peter Saar
Mary Ann Olmstead...............Martin Bushnell
Moving Stanford Howell to the right spot with Adeline it made the other
5
names move down one.
I checked each one of them on Family Search......
Hope this helps....
Carol

Too many questions. I found that "possible" marriage of Stanford Howell
to the Margaret Olmstead in the same listing of Douglas County
marriages. I will have to look again at the marriage to see the detail,
can't remember (I'm old).

First of all my apologies to Dale for attempted gender bending, if she
had
made that fact clear in the past I missed it and since all the Dales I
grew
up with were guys naturally I jumped to the wrong confusion.
Many thanks to Sue for ferreting out stuff I hadn't found or else was
too
lazy to look for. Barbara had me going for a minute with her explanation
of
Mary Emily from the death index, I was about to say don't discount the
connection when I remembered my Anlauf connection was on the other side
of
Mom's family. I haven't had any luck turning up either John or Mary
McCulloch in 1900 and now it appears John at least will be real hard to
find. If he was real important to me I could dig through Coos and Doug
co
marriage records and probably find who his other daughter married and
maybe
track Momma down that way. If someone wanted to look for her in the 1900
Census in Empire, Coos Co., Oregon they might find her. That is where
here
daughter that married my great Uncle is that year; EMPIRE PCT Series:
T623
Roll: 1346 Page: 278. Heritage quest's image for that census looks like
the
stuff between the brackets here; [` ` . , ; = ] some lines are a
little more legible, but I can just barely figure out where Unc is on
the
page.
Oh, my email to Ralph bounced too, I will probably call Doug Co Gen Soc
or
some such to sort that out.
Dale; I wouldn't discount the Howell marriage to Margaret Olmsted, the
Northrup marriage would then be a second one and you would probably have
a
whole new bunch of cousins to try and track down from that marriage,
going
back through the 1870 and 1880 census to track those individuals who
list
father born in Illinois might turn up some likely clues, though
presuming
wife number 1 died in childbirth before aug 1862 it seems like some of
wife
number ones kids would still be home in 1880, though the would all be
adult.
The killer is not finding him in 1860 or 1870, I guess I need to try
harder
in 1860, possibly elsewhere? Did you mention where he married Margaret?
Of course it is possible this is Howell confusion, but Stan(d)ford isn't
what you would call a common name. Well I just tried a little harder
looking for him in 1860 with no luck, maybe I should page by page
through
the census to see what i come up with. You say you have a copy of his
and
Adaline's marraige Cert? Where were they married, that is does it give a
house or some such, wait let me guess, Milan Melvin's house.
