[or-roots] timber in Whitman County WA

What is the name of the person who owned Whitman County land.  The  timber 
cultures were not necessarily timber that existed when the land was  purchased.  
A part of the agreement to care for the land if you will was  that a certain 
amount of the acreage would be used as a timber culture.  In  other words, it 
would not be put to the plow but would be in timber.  One  heck of a lot 
better farming practice than is the idea of plowing every square  foot and watching 
the wind blow it hither and yon
