Bernie

The papers I received from the Railroad Ritirement Board for my grandfather
included copies of his application for a job, monthly wages, monthly records of
days worked or not worked, positions held and when/where. A copy of his
request for retirement and various other great information on his entire railroad
career.

You would likely find everything you want to know about his "local" career if
they have his retirement papers. It didn't take very long for me to receive
the information - possibly 3-4 weeks after writing a letter to the Board
requesting it, and I didn't even have his employee # or SSN (which they prefer as
they are filed by SSN). It has been a few years since I sent for them so am not
sure just how long it took to receive them.

Just now getting back to some emails back about 13 Sept. Trying to
get an email address for the SP&S Railroad Historical Society in Vancouver,
Wash. Tried my best with no success. Have been getting emails that show you or
your group seem to know almost everything so thought I'd try you again. Still
doing the genealogy research on my deceased Father in Law who was a long time
SP&S employee. Looking for more local information about his employment on the
SP&S line from Astoria to Linnton before I go to the U.S. Railroad Retirement
Board, where they should have information on his employment dates, etc.
         Thanks, Bernie Verbout
