Death Certificates of Finns in Clatsop County, Oregon, circa 1905-1944

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----

Excerpted by Merle A. Reinikka.

Most of the following records date from between 1905 and 1944, though a few
are a little older. They were compiled from loose papers stored at the
Clatsop County Court House, Astoria, Oregon. These records may not be a
complete record of all who died in the county in those years. If a name you
expect to find is not on this list, check the microfilm copies of the death
records, or contact the Oregon State Archives to ask them to check their
files. The newspaper index at the Astoria Public Library may provide
additional information.

It will be obvious that numerous family names and place names are spelled
incorrectly. Many of the records from which the data was collected contained
hard-to-read handwriting, rendering it difficult to make exact
interpretations. Thus, the names are recorded as they appear in the original
death records, so it may be necessary to do some guesswork in some
instances.

I would probably look for this on interlibrary loan rather than buy it
unless you know you have lots of kin in it;
