Hello!

This weekend I have been reworking a newspaper index for newspapers from
Wrangell, Alaska that I completed in 1995. I have had a recent request for
the entire project and since I have better software, I thought I would try
to recreate the index and burn it to a CD to make it available to more
libraries and researchers in Alaska. At the time it was pretty expensive to
provide hard copies.

Part of the index was a vital statistics section which listed names whether
they were found in the newspaper or public records. The newspapers were
primarily Wrangell newspapers but I also did research in Victoria, BC so you
may see some newspapers cited from that city.

While the index was done for 1898-1899, there are other dates included
because of the various researches that I was doing at the time. I thought
this information on people who lived at Wrangell, Alaska might be of
interest since these people were either born in Oregon before traveling to
Alaska or have an Oregon connection.

The newspapers are available through your local library on microfilm and/or
microfiche. Please note, that unless you want to have the primary source in
your files, the information listed is complete - in fact some information is
additional from research that I had and I added it to the name.

This is the only information that I have on these people. I hope that this
information will be of help to someone.
