And, taking about backups, most printers do not use an archival ink, and 
there is a lot of cheapo printer paper out in the marketplace, so a 
thorough soaking from a flood, roof, or plumbing failure will render 
many a "hard copy" equally invaluable, as in without value.

Most, but not all, of the ink jet market uses a water soluble ink -- 
read the fine print and ask questions if you are counting on computer 
printed hard copies.

One of the important aspects of multiple back-ups is doing it 
*frequently*, giving you a fresh and recent copy.  I do believe there 
are some folks offering archival CD's as a service -- I know nothing 
about this, though ...
