> Wm Green Thomas, Walter Parrott and J.E. Worden happen to be people that I do have information on. I covered all three in a history column that I wrote years ago at Wrangell. I will dig out the story on Wm Green Thomas and send it to you. I also have a photo that was used in the story. I recently found information on him while researching a group of women who owned the garnet mine near Wrangell. He traveled to California to appear as a witness for the women when they sued someone for trying to sell them their own mine. Not a great deal but thought it was interesting that he had traveled all that way with the court record book to prove that the women owned the mine. Which brings to mind that it is sure is great to have copiers and fax machines! I have been trying to locate another ancestor of his for some time to give her the updated information but have never been able to locate her. She left Spokane and I lost track of her. Between the two of us we had been able to piece together his life story. My research of him started as a result of a short story by Rick Steber about the Blue Mountain incident. A relative of someone living in Wrangell sent the clipping and asked if she could find the rest of the story. Wm. Green Thomas was a well respected man throughout Alaska.

This is an interesting post; I was surprised to see the information about William Green Thomas. I have some information about this family as his sister, Catherine Thomas (m. Clarence L. Morris) was a 3rd great grandmother to my son and daughter. Catherine's daughter, Mary Elizabeth Morris m. George Walter Young and they ranched in the Maupin area.

Hello!
This weekend I have been reworking a newspaper index for newspapers from Wrangell, Alaska that I completed in 1995. I have had a recent request for the entire project and since I have better software, I thought I would try to recreate the index and burn it to a CD to make it available to more libraries and researchers in Alaska. At the time it was pretty expensive to provide hard copies.
Part of the index was a vital statistics section which listed names whether they were found in the newspaper or public records. The newspapers were primarily Wrangell newspapers but I also did research in Victoria, BC so you may see some newspapers cited from that city.
While the index was done for 1898-1899, there are other dates included because of the various researches that I was doing at the time. I thought this information on people who lived at W rangell, Alaska might be of interest since these people were either born in Oregon before traveling to Alaska or have an Oregon connection.
The newspapers are available through your local library on microfilm and/or microfiche. Please note, that unless you want to have the primary source in your files, the information listed is complete – in fact some information is additional from research that I had and I added it to the name.
This is the only information that I have on these people. I hope that this information will be of help to someone.
