I agree! One of my brother's first toys was a Hyster. I didn't know (a) that
it was called a lumber carrier, we always called it a Hyster, or (b) that
Hyster made other things, until I was an adult!
It was great fun to crank up the carrier and move the "lumber" around the
place.
In college he worked in the mill, but I don't think he ever drove one.
Didn't like the job, joined the Navy.

Oregon who was killed instantly that afternoon by a lumber carrier.

This wording, and the date, would incline me to think this was not a
highway traffic accident with a log truck, but an accident, probably in
the mill, with a special vehicle, now obsolete, designed to carry stacks
